Abstract
To identify the efficacy of laparoscopic cholecytectomy, we retrospectively analyzed 1500 cases of laparoscopic cholecystectomy who were treated at the Department of Surgery, Chung Ang University from September 1990 to August 1994. The most
prevalent
age group was 6th decades, male to female ratio was 1.90 and associated disease were hypertension, pulmonary tuberculosis, diabetesmellitus in order of frequency and previous abdominal operations were appendectomy, T.A.H, C-section I orde of
frequency.
The mean duration of operation was 28.10 minutes and mean duration of postoperative hospitalization was 7.55 days.
Themost frequeny pathologic diagnosis was chronic cholecystitis. There were no deaths and the postoperative complication rate was 61 of 1500(4.06%) with 37 cases(2.4^$) of postoperative transfusion, 7 bile leakage, 5 common bile duct injury 4
bowel
injury and 3 retained common bile duct stones. Coversion to open cholecystectomy was necessary in 20 patients(1.33%), either becauses of bleeding, bile duct injury, bowel injury, retained common duct stone or adhesion. According to oral
cholecystogram,
opacification correalted with duration of operation time-and complication rate. We believed that laparoscopic choleocystectomy has been performed effectively and safely in Korea.
